Mayor Villaraigosa should resign, too

Women today are supposed to be “liberated” and “equal” to men. But why is it that, when scandal strikes, they get hurt but the men go free?

The latest example is Mirthala Salinas, who no longer will be reporting for Telemundo because she had an affair with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Of course, you can’t have journalists sleeping with their sources.

But neither should we allow politicians to keep their jobs after sleeping with reporters. Villaraigosa should resign, or be recalled. Why aren’t women’s liberation groups going after him? Where is NOW when you need it?

Something similar happened, of course, to poor Monica Lewinsky. Her life was ruined. But Bill Clinton will be back in the White House on Jan. 20, 2009. At the time of the scandal almost a decade ago, feminists acted like battered girlfriends in denial and defended him, not her.
